Bandipura Wildlife Sanctuary

It is 80 km from Mysore. Situated on the Mysore-Ooty Road, this wildlife sanctuary adjoins the Mudumalai Sanctuary of TamilNadu and the Periyar Sanctuary in Kerala. Bandipur is known for its herds of bison, spotted deer, elephants and sambhar. Tigers and leopards can be seen occasionally. The sanctuary has been dedicated to "Project Tiger". The Forest Department offers jeeps and trucks and elephant rides within the sanctuary. Boating facility is also available. October to May is the ideal time to visit here.
